Udinese have opened talks over signing Sunderland’s Pierre Ekwah, according to Sports World Ghana.
The midfielder was a regular for the Black Cats last season, making 42 appearances in all competitions.
His displays for Sunderland have seen the Serie A side make him their priority midfield target this summer.
Udinese are ‘serious’ in their pursuit of the 22-year-old, and have sent an official offer to the Championship side.
The report makes no mention of the fee proposed, but states the negotiations between Udinese and Sunderland are ‘still in progress’. This indicates that Régis Le Bris’ side have not turned down the Italian club’s proposal so far.
It’s further claimed the Serie A side have opened talks with the player, likely to find an agreement over personal terms. Ekwah is the priority target for Udinese, and they are of the belief his arrival would further strengthen the squad.
There should be more updates on the negotiations between the two clubs. Ekwah joined Sunderland in January 2023 and he signed a deal until 2027. Udinese can offer Ekwah to take the next step in his career and play in the top flight.
