Sunderland are keen on signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Amine Adli this summer, according to Africa Foot.
The 25-year-old hasn’t managed to get regular minutes since joining the German club from Toulouse in 2021. He picked up an injury in October and was sidelined for close to 100 days, but that didn’t stop Bayer Leverkusen from renewing his contract in November.
Despite renewing until 2028, the attacking midfielder is said to be willing to change clubs this summer.
The report adds he’s open to making a switch to the Premier League, where Sunderland have shown ‘concrete interest’. They managed to obtain information about the Black Cats from the Morocco international’s entourage.
Africa Foot claims they have set a £23m price and this indicates Erik ten Hag’s side seem to be in favour of Adli’s exit. Earlier today, Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes indicated the player could be allowed to leave in this window.
There’s no clarity on whether Sunderland are willing to meet the Bundesliga club’s request or a mention about Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest.
On Monday, Bild reported Adli has asked Bayer Leverkusen to negotiate with Wolves after they made a concrete offer.
Granit Xhaka’s move from Bayer Leverkusen to Sunderland was confirmed on Wednesday.
