Sunderland were given green light for the signing of the Boavista goalkeeper Mika, according to reports from Portugal.

The move was stuck because it was submitted to FIFA after the deadline, although the clubs claimed it was a problem in the institution’s transfers system which delayed it.

Now O Jogo claims to have a source from FIFA who told them the transfer was accepted and the player is free to be presented by the Black Cats.

Mika is expected to sign a two-year deal with Sunderland. The 25-year-old’s transfer fee hasn’t been reported by the local media.

O Jogo will have done pretty well to get a source at FIFA, and it remains to be seen if this informaiton is spot on, but it certainly sounds promising.
