Earlier on Wednesday, a big article appeared in France regarding Will Still and his attempt to get Sunderland’s attention.
The manager was said to have met with those in charge of the Black Cats, which wasn’t appreciated by the people above him at Stade de Reims.
RMC Sport back all this up with their own report on the matter on Wednesday afternoon, where they add a bit of interesting information regarding the 31-year-old and what his future could hold.
They repeat a lot of what Foot Mercato’s claims, making it clear that Reims were ‘irritated’ by their manager’s manoeuvres in the shadows, but they also aren’t overly surprised.
That’s because they have ‘been preparing since the start of the season to say goodbye’ to him at the end of the current campaign.
This is due to Still, when he extended his contract with them, including ‘the option of leaving Reims in the summer of 2024’.
It’s also stated he is ‘by no means the favourite’ for the Sunderland job as things stand, suggesting the Black Cats are heading in a different direction.
Were they, however, to change their mind, it appears they can get him for nothing at the end of the season thanks to this clause in his contract.
UPDATE: L’Equipe have since published an article claiming that compensation will be needed next summer if any club want to bring Will Still from Stade de Reims.
