Sunderland have winter market interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Jonas Omlin.

Two days ago, Sky Deutschland reported the Black Cats have initiated contact to sign him.

On Sunday, Bild reported the Switzerland international is on the verge of leaving Gladbach in January. Sunderland could be his next destination, and the Bundesliga side want to get rid of the 32-year-old.

Blick relay Sky’s claim and then share their own updates on Sunderland’s interest in the stopper.

According to Blick, Régis Le Bris’ side have been negotiating with the German club but haven’t found an agreement. A fresh report from Sky Deutschland now state that won’t happen.

Therefore, the Swiss won’t join Sunderland.

Instead, he is on his way to Bayer Leverkusen. Their No.1, Mark Flekken, picked up an injury earlier this month and will be out for an extended period.

Five days ago, we covered claims from Germany that Bayer Leverkusen are looking at the Premier League for a new goalkeeper. Kicker reported Bayer have identified Manchester City’s Stefan Ortega and James Trafford, and Chelsea stopper Filip Jorgensen as targets.

Bayer Leverkusen won’t be signing any of them and are now focusing on the Sunderland target.

Sky report they have a total agreement with their Bundesliga counterpart to sign Omlin on loan until the end of this season. His medical is scheduled on Monday.

The Swiss goalkeeper didn’t make an appearance for Gladbach this season. A loan move to Bayer Leverkusen could see him enjoy regular minutes immediately.
