Fenerbahçe’s on loan winger Jeremain Lens spoke to the Turkish version of BeinSports after his side’s win against Akhisar Belediyespor. The Sunderland loanee’s future is one of the main talking points in the Turkish Press, with some reports Fenerbahçe are set to loan him for another season.
However, Fenerbahçe are not the only club who will be interested in the Sunderland man with claims of further interest in Turkey. Despite Len’s preference to continue at Fenerbahçe, Turkish League leaders Besiktas are also in the hunt for the Dutchman, according to recent reports in the Turkish media.
Speaking after yesterday’s game Len’s confirmed he wants to leave Sunderland and remain at Fenerbahce: “First of all it’s not up to me what my future will bring me because I have a contract for two more years in Sunderland, so let’s see what happens this summer. Fenerbahce is a really good team and I’m happy to play for Fenerbahce. I would like to play here for one more year or maybe longer than one year.”
When asked about reports he could leave Sunderland for another Turkish club, Lens said that was just media talk, before adding: “I play for Fenerbahce, hopefully I can continue to play for Fenerbahce.”
Lens joined Fenerbahce last summer after being frozen out at Sunderland. The player has managed to kickstart his career since arriving in Turkey, and his form has earned him a recall to the Netherlands squad. Lens in recent months has been quite open about wanting to leave Sunderland, and a move could happen in the summer.
