According to a claim in the Turkish media, Fulham and Sunderland are still showing serious interest in Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara.

The 26-year-old has been linked with the Premier League sides in the past week, along with Everton. We covered claims that all three English clubs were monitoring the situation. His Gala future looks uncertain, and there’s been rumours of an England move since the summer.

This month has seen reports in Turkey that Galatasaray are looking to replace the former Norwich City man.

Manchester United’s Manuel Ugarte could be a possible option, and there’s been claims he’s agreed personal terms with the Super Lig leaders. His Old Trafford teammate Kobbie Mainoo has also been linked, although that looks even less likely.

Sunderland and Fulham are ‘seriously interested’

Yakup Çınar has said via Forza Cimbom, that Sunderland and Fulham remain ‘seriously interested’ in signing Sara this month. The journalist went on to say the player’s agent will soon sit down with Galatasaray’s hierarchy to discuss his client’s future.

Last week it was reported the Super Lig leaders are looking for offers over €20m. They paid Norwich City €18m in 2004, so would get a small profit. However, with Galatasaray still to play their remaining two Champions League group stage games, they’d prefer to sell at the end of the window.

Leeds United, Nottingham Forest Manchester City have also been linked with Sara in the past six months. During the summer window all three were monitoring his situation, but no concrete effort was made to sign him.

Sara has made 26 appearances this season, scoring two goals. The Brazilian started Sunday’s Super Cup final defeat against Fenerbahçe on the bench, but came on at half time.

The Turkish media keep pushing a potential exit, suggesting Gala themselves are keen.

He’s contracted to Galatasaray until June 2029.
