Even though the links between West Ham United and Simon Banza have gone a little quiet lately, it seems things could get more intense very soon.
Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today features a story explaining that Braga currently lead the race for Malaga striker Roberto Fernandez.
It’s explained that his arrival is related to the departure of other centre-forwards in Braga’s squad, and that’s where Banza and West Ham come in.
O Jogo claims the clubs who are interested in the Congolese player can improve their offer ‘in the coming days’.
West Ham are highlighted as one of the clubs who follow the striker, although there are rumours of interest from United Arab Emirates as well.
Playing for Braga last season, Banza had 23 goals and five assists in 41 appearances. He’s valued by Transfermarkt at €18m.
The links with West Ham have been ongoing for a few months now, and when it was said the Hammers placed a bid, it was claimed that was still ‘far’ from what the Arabs were putting on the table. So a bigger effort will be needed.
