Takumi Minamino had a difficult time in the Premier League with both Southampton and Liverpool.
The Japan international moved back to Liverpool after a loan stint at Southampton and was later sold to AS Monaco, failing to ever truly become a regular for the Reds.
Monaco-Matin have now looked at the midfielder’s rise in stature at the Ligue 1 side, stating that hes finally found ‘brilliant form’ for the club.
Last season, he contributed to 15 goals for Monaco and already has one goal to his name for the side, with the outlet going on to hail his strike against St Etienne as well.
They suggest that while Minamino had initial struggles about what what his real position is.
They also spoke to Japanese journalist Kayako Kimura.
He revealed that initially, Minamino wasn’t quite ready for Ligue 1 from a physical perspective and the difficulties faced at Southampton were still lingering.
“He realised that there was a gap between his level when he arrived and the demands of Ligue 1. The reason is that he had not participated in all the preparation and was coming off a season where he had not played much (during his loan from Liverpool to Southampton).
“He then had to work hard to come back and shine as he knows how to do.”
Described as a ‘polite’ person, Minamino improved the physical aspects of his playing style at Monaco and the journalist noted the role Adi Hutter’s has played in that.
There is also an emphasis on the fact that the 29-year-old suits the club’s system and it would appear he’s found the right home for his football.
