On Sunday, Sky Deutschland reported Bayern Munich have rejected Manchester United’s first offer for Benjamin Pavard. It was also stated the defender has reached an agreement with the Red Devils.
Erik ten Hag’s side are not the only club chasing the 27-year-old as Liverpool are also in the mix, according to multiple claims from Germany.
The France international struggled in his side’s defeat against RB Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup on Saturday. Abendzeitung München suggest this could be because he’s mentally already at Manchester United or Liverpool.
Thomas Tuchel used him as a right-back, which is not his preferred position, and replaced Pavard with Noussair Mazraoui after the break.
AZ say the player is being courted by both Manchester United and Liverpool. His contract expires in 2024 and he plans to leave the German champions this month.
Sport Bild also state Bayern have rejected Manchester United’s initial offer for Pavard and that Jürgen Klopp’s are interested in him. In fact, the Frenchman has been on Liverpool’s list since the start of the window.
The report says it will be a ‘transfer duel’ between the Premier League duo to sign Pavard and that the Old Trafford club could be an ‘interesting option’ for him.
With regards to Bayern, Sport Bild says losing the player would be a ‘bitter loss’ for them.
Manchester United have agreed a deal with Pavard and this may give them an advantage over Liverpool in the ‘transfer duel’.
