Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli has shared his delight at seeing manager Roberto de Zerbi appointed by Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Italian coach was chosen as the replacement for Graham Potter earlier this month following his move to Chelsea.
He arrives at the South Coast club with a big reputation from his time in Italy, where he managed Sassuolo for three years.
He turned them into an exciting, attacking side under his leadership, with them earning rave reviews inside and outside out Italy.
It is hoped he can do the same with Brighton and build on the foundations laid down by Potter during his time in charge at the club.
Whether he can do so remains to be seen but the early signs are positive, with reports stating that the Italian has enjoyed an easy adaptation thanks to Potter’s style.
“He’s probably the strongest manager I’ve had on the pitch: besides making you play football, he gets inside you,” Canale Sassuolo report him saying.
“If you don’t marry his idea of football, it’s difficult to put it on the pitch. I have infinite esteem for him and I’m glad he went to Brighton.
“Shakhtar’s choice was also to create a credibility fund for himself in order to make it to the Premier League. I was sure that a manager like him wanted to get to the Premier, the elite of football is there.”
