Two days ago, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Newcastle United and Villarreal have made contact to sign Atalanta goalkeeper Juan Musso.
On Tuesday, Corriere della Sera explained that €10m won’t be enough for the Magpies and Villarreal to sign him in the summer window.
Tutto Atalanta state Genoa are set to challenge Newcastle and the La Liga side for the 30-year-old’s signature.
In need of a new goalkeeper, Genoa have set their sights on the Argentine and Sassuolo’s Stefano Turati. They believe Musso could be their first-choice stopper next season.
The Italian club will face competition from Eddie Howe’s side and Villarreal as these teams have shown ‘strong interest’ in the Atalanta player.
Newcastle and the Yellow Submarine see the South American as an ‘ideal reinforcement’. It’s claimed these two teams could ‘soon make a concrete offer’ to secure his services, but the report makes no mention of the fee they could propose.
Torino have also looked at Musso, but they are currently behind Newcastle, Villarreal and Genoa in the transfer race.
The Europa League winners will have to bring in a replacement if Musso were to leave this summer.
