For the past few days, various reports coming out of Italy have explained Napoli are facing competition from Leeds United to sign Angers’ Azzedine Ounahi in January.
The Morocco international has been on the agenda of several clubs after he impressed at the World Cup.
On Tuesday, L’Equipe explained Angers chief Saïd Chabane made a trip to England to hold discussions to sell the midfielder. It was also suggested he could have had talks with Leeds.
Journalist Ciro Venerato told RAI 2, relayed by Napoli Magazine, that Aston Villa are in the picture for the 22-year-old, while the Whites are still keen. He further adds Ounahi is ‘very distant’ from Napoli, while Leicester City and PSG seemed to have moved away.
Over at Calciomercato, they state the Serie A side don’t intend to participate in an auction for the player. Jesse Marsch’s side are tagged as it’s claimed ‘there is strong interest from Leeds’ to sign the Moroccan.
Angers need to raise money as soon as possible to improve their finances. Therefore, they are in a ‘hurry to close the operation’ for the player, who is valued at around €25m.
Leeds, who are showing firm interest in Ounahi, would be delighted to know that Napoli are ‘very distant’ in the transfer race.
