Flamengo striker Pedro has already had his fair share of ups and downs in his career and the last few days have brought it all together in a disappointing way.
The 27-year-old Brazilian was one of the strikers Nottingham Forest turned to late in the transfer window but the move didn’t materialise. The money on offer from the Premier League club was less than what Flamengo wanted.
There is now bad news for Pedro, and an update which rules out any chance of Nottingham Forest returning in January.
Globo in Brazil have reported today that during Brazil’s training session in Curitiba yesterday, Pedro sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee. This was followed by many Brazil players sharing messages of support on social media for the Selecao striker.
The injury comes as a huge blow for Pedro, who has scored 30 times in all competitions for Flamengo in 2024 and has become a very consistent goalscorer for them in recent years after an underwhelming time at Fiorentina.
This is the player’s second ACL injury and it’s come when he could have become a regular fixture in the Brazil national team.
Such twists of fate in football are cruel.
