Arsenal are considering a move for Real Madrid striker Luka Jović this summer should Pierre-Emerick Aubayemang leave the club this summer.

Aubayemang is entering the final year of his contract at the Emirates and looks unlikely to sign a new deal, meaning the Gunners would be forced to sell this summer to avoid losing him on a free next year.

Should he depart, he would leave a considerable hole in Mikel Arteta’s side and, according to Sport, Jović is the man that the Spaniard has identified to fill it.

The newspaper explains that Arsenal are ‘scouring’ the market for a forward in anticipation of Aubayemang leaving and Jović ‘occupies a leading role’ on Arteta’s shortlist of replacements.

The Serbian striker struggled for form at Real Madrid since making a €60m move from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer, but Arsenal believe that he can still ‘have a career’ away from the club.

At this point, Madrid aren’t keen on selling the 22-year-old and are willing to give him another chance despite his struggles.

However, that could change if they sign a ‘major reinforcement’ upfront themselves, with Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland and Sadio Mané all ‘priority targets’ for them this summer.

If any of them arrive at the Bernabeu, Jović’s situation will change, and that could open the door for Arsenal to make their move and offer him an escape route.
