Gaëtan Laborde is one of the strikers identified as a target by West Ham United in the winter market.

Earlier this month, Montpellier president Laurent Nicollin revealed the Hammers made contact with the 26-year-old’s agent for his signing.

Nicollin then also stressed the club never received any proposal from the Premier League side.

Three days ago, we covered claims made by Le10 Sport that explained David Moyes’ side were given an ‘ultimatum’ until Friday to sign the Frenchman.

It was also explained the attacker will continue with the Ligue 1 side if the latter didn’t receive an offer before Friday.

Laborde is ‘courted’ by the London club and this is again reported in today’s L’Equipe.

Montpellier seem unfazed by this situation as the newspaper adds the French club’s ‘fear of seeing’ the player leave has ‘dissipated’.

In other words, the frontman will not leave Montpellier in the last two days of the January window and West Ham will have to look elsewhere if they want a new striker for the second half of the season.
