Ever since the emergence of the story that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Leeds United’s Diego Llorente, there has been a lot of discussion in the media about its feasibility.
The reason for that is the player is on loan at AS Roma, where he is playing regularly under José Mourinho, who are themselves struggling with injuries to their backline.
That’s why Corriere dello Sport, when looking at the story, explain ‘it would be strange’ for the Italians to agree to losing the Leeds man midway through the season.
The reason for that is they are already struggling to sign a new centre-back for their own squad, meaning it makes little sense to open the door for Llorente’s exit.
Furthermore, the prospect of Paris Saint-Germain having to deal with both AS Roma and Leeds United would ‘clearly not make the negotiation easy’, as they would have to likely fork out some money to compensate both teams, who will want what’s best for their own interests.
The Ligue 1 side only want to bring Llorente ‘until the end of the season’, meaning another temporary deal for the player, who would have to uproot his life once again, albeit to play under another manager who appreciates him.
Therefore, unless Paris Saint-Germain come with their chequebook open, Leeds and Roma are unlikely to agree to this.
