Recovering from yet another serious injury, Ibrahim Afellay has decided to go to a sunnier part of the world to do so.

The 30-year-old, who has been at Stoke since his release from Barcelona in the summer of 2015, injured his knee towards the end of last season after twisting it in training.

Afellay has gone to get treatment from Dr Ramon Cugat, who has treated pretty much every single Barcelona player under the sun, someone who, considering the forward’s injury history, he probably knows very well.

The Spanish newspaper also explains that Afellay is spending time at Espanyol’s Ciutat Esportiva facilities whilst he recovers.

Since his arrival to English football, the Dutch international has made 36 appearances for Stoke City, scoring three goals and picking up three assists along the way.
