‘Still some distance’ between Tottenham and Betis – Talks continue for big transfer

Despite what is being pushed by certain journalists on social media, it appears that Giovani Lo Celso isn’t a Tottenham player just yet.

In fact, there certainly has been no agreement found between Spurs and Real Betis, according to AS, but that doesn’t mean it’s all over.

Yes, Tottenham appear to be making a push for Sporting CP’s Bruno Fernandes, but talks between the La Liga side and Daniel Levy continue, even if ‘there’s still some distance between the financial desires of each party’.

ABC Sevilla also provide an update on Thursday evening amid all the speculation of a done deal, emphasising that was not the case, and Lo Celso continues to train with his current club.

ABC Sevilla did state earlier on Thursday that ‘everything indicates’ a transfer is happening, and that remains the case if Spurs put more money on the table, but Diario de Sevilla were a bit more reserved about the situation, explaining the Tottenham chairman was refusing to increase his initial offer of just over €50m.

Unless a quick agreement is found for Bruno Fernandes, this feels like a deal that could go all the way down to the wire as the Portuguese midfielder seems to be the alternative to the Argentine.

They aren’t like for like exactly, but they’re close enough.
