Manchester City midfielder İlkay Gündoğan is yet to finalise a summer move to Barcelona as there are ‘still disagreements’ between him and the Catalans.
That’s according to Sport, who say the German hasn’t managed to find an agreement on wages with the Spanish league leaders to date.
The newspaper explains that Barça’s clearly priority for the summer is to rebuild their midfield, particularly after Sergio Busquets decided to depart.
The idea is to sign two footballers for that rebuild, one on a free transfer and another via a transfer fee. Gündoğan would be the former as his contract with Manchester City expires at the end of the season.
Talks have been ongoing with him over a deal for months but there are ‘still disagreements’ about the salary he is asking to earn at the Camp Nou. The suggestion is that he wants too much for Barcelona to comply with at this time.
Thus, he has not signed a deal with them yet, although there is a belief at Barcelona that they can smooth things over with the Manchester City man.
In fact, they believe that everything will be turned around in the coming weeks and Xavi will get at least one of the signings he wants over the line.
