Burnley’s Zeki Amdouni has been on loan at Benfica since last summer and has featured regularly this season.
The winger played 1,148 minutes from 39 games, managing eight goals and three assists in the process. Benfica manager Bruno Lage has mainly used the Burnley owned player as a substitute.
Saturday’s edition of A Bola explains Lage has options on the right wing for Sunday’s clash at home against FC Porto.
The Switzerland international’s competition has increased after Ángel Di María returned from an injury. He has to fight with the former Real Madrid star and Kerem Aktürkoğlu for a place in the starting lineup.
A Bola points out the Burnley man has scored more [four] goals in the Primeira Liga as a substitute than any other player this season. Lage started him twice in last three games and the report states the 24-year-old could start against Porto tomorrow.
Towards the end, the newspaper talks about Amdouni’s future. Benfica paid a €2m loan fee to the Clarets and secured a €18m buying option. According to A Bola, it’s ‘still being assessed’ by the Lisbon club whether to exercise the purchase clause.
