Steve Cooper isn’t one to keep his feelings to himself when he believes his side have been wronged. He demonstrated that on multiple occasions during his time with Nottingham Forest.

In November 2022, after his Nottingham Forest side had lost 1-0 to Wolves, Cooper told the media about his officiating frustrations. He implied referee Thomas Bramall had put in something of a biased performance.

That resulted in an FA charge and an £8k fine to go with it.

There were no fines whilst at Leicester City, but then he wasn’t there long enough to really get going.

Now manager at Brøndby, Cooper could be set for his first fine since that Nottingham Forest and Wolves game.

He’s been under an awful lot of scrutiny since moving to Danish football. Near enough everything he says is overanalysed and his decisions are picked apart by a media who appear keen to doubt the Welshman.

Brøndby lost 1-0 away to FC Copenhagen on Sunday. After the match, Cooper had a little rant about the officiating, as reported by Tipsbladet.

Part of that was the following: “We were surprised by the referee choice, and we considered doing something as a club, in hindsight we should have done it, but that will have to be another time. I will not comment, because the club will probably pick up this matter.”

This hasn’t gone down well, and Tipsbladet report he’s found himself in hot water. The situation is being stirred up by the media, with the outlet saying they’ve contacted both the DBU and the individual who coordinates officials in Denmark.

The DBU have said it’s potentially case, with the manager then being charged, and therefore they won’t comment.

Another headache for Steve Cooper, who probably thought he’d be better welcomed in Denmark.
