Tottenham, yesterday, announced the signing of Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar, after prolonged negotiations between the two clubs.

Janssen has been speaking to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf shortly after completing a move to the Eredivisie club.

Earlier, the 22-year-old accused AZ Alkmaar for blocking his ‘dream transfer’ to Tottenham. He was asked why Tottenham was the only club he wanted to sign for.

“After the tour of the training ground and the ground, I knew for sure that this is a fantastic club. The conversation with the coach was perfect as there was an immediate bonding. He was clearly into the game and how he sees my future.”

Janssen reiterated that the negotiations were difficult, but he is happy that an agreement could be reached.

“It’s a huge relief. The negotiations were difficult, but now I am a player of Tottenham Hotspur and would rather just look ahead.”

The Dutchman admits there was a moment he thought the deal might not happen, but he was confident that his wish would be fulfilled.

“Of course, you doubt if it takes so long. But I’ve always loved to trust that my wish would be fulfilled.”

Tottenham agreed a fee of around €22m with AZ Alkmaar for Janssen, but the player believes he is under no pressure to deliver.

“Of course, you know that that transfer is a thing. But to be honest, that doesn’t affect me, and I do not feel any pressure. “
