Olivier Boscagli claims PSV Eindhoven manager Peter Bosz was aware of his firm desire to join Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer window.
The versatile defender has been speaking to Voetbal International, discussing his failed move to Brighton, and his comments are relayed by FCUpdate.
Boscagli is in his final year of contract and Brighton offered €10m in the last window, which didn’t please the Dutch club.
Back in September, PSV Eindhoven commercial director Frans Janssen had stated the fee proposed by the Seagulls wasn’t even close to what they requested for the 27-year-old.
FCUpdate claim the Frenchman had visited Bosz’s office ‘almost every day’, to push for a move to The Amex, but no deal took shape in the end. The player has now explained why he wasn’t in favour of revolting, to secure a transfer to Brighton.
“He knew I wanted to go, but I told him that until the deal was done or fell through, I would give everything for the team. I’m an honest person. It’s not in me to sabotage things. It’s also not good for my future,” he said.
The defender had to overcome the disappointment of not able to join Brighton quickly and has been a regular for the Eredivisie side, making 18 appearances in all competitions this season.
“I am very strong mentally. There are two ways I could have reacted after the club didn’t let me go to Brighton. I could have said: I have to, and I will leave, and I tell the coach that I am no longer motivated to play. But I’m not like that. If a deal doesn’t work out, I will give everything for the club I play for,” Boscagli explained.
Without a renewal, Boscagli will leave PSV as a free agent at the end of this season. Brighton are likely waiting.
