Real Betis are maintaining their confident stance when it comes to sign Antony from Manchester United, insisting they won’t do anything crazy for him.

That’s according to Sport, who report that while the Brazilian is ‘burning with desire’ to return to Betis after his successful loan spell last season, the Spanish side won’t go out of their way to get a permanent deal done.

According to the newspaper, Betis aren’t stressing that a deal hasn’t been done with Manchester United as yet.

They plan to play their cards to get a deal, knowing that Antony wants the move and will prolong negotiation as long as possible. Thus, the current plan from Manu Fajardo, sporting director, and Ramón Alarcón, the club’s CEO is to wait.

The current idea is to offer to buy a percentage of Antony’s rights with a mandatory clause to get him next season included.

The two clubs are far apart in their valuations of the forward at this moment in time and Betis still need to figure out how to pay Antony’s wages anyway.

They’re confident that they’ll get their man eventually, though. Indeed, the consistent word has been that they believe time is on their hands and that’s very much the tone in this latest report too.

That doesn’t suit Manchester United, though, and it remains to be seen if they start to play their own cards to push Betis along.
