One of the great success stories of VfB Stuttgart’s season, Deniz Undav’s loan from Brighton & Hove Albion could be a boon for all parties.
That’s because the Bundesliga side could make the move permanent at the end of the season, allowing the Seagulls to make a profit on their €7m investment while the player continues to be an important protagonist at a club that values him.
Bild on Monday have an article with some quotes from Stuttgart’s director of football, Fabian Wohlgemuth, about the Brighton loanee’s future amid claims he doesn’t think many players will be leaving the German side this summer.
He said: “We have to assess the financial viability for Under. It depends, to a certain extent, on whether we reach a European competition and which one. Then, we and Deniz can imagine that the collaboration will continue.”
As things stand, Stuttgart currently sit third in the Bundesliga after 26 games, six points clear of Dortmund in fourth and four points behind Bayern Munich.
They are comfortably in a Champions League qualifying spot, which should give them the funds to keep the Brighton man at the club.
Undav, since his arrival, has scored 15 goals and assisted another seven in 25 appearances for the German side, which is a big difference to the eight goals and one assist he has managed with the Seagills since his arrival.
