Sporting director Antonio Cordón ‘will most likely go’ to Aston Villa after Real Betis finalised a deal for his replacement Ramon Planes.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the 59-year-old is likely to make the move to Villa Park and join Unai Emery.
The newspaper explains that Betis and Planes have ‘already reached’ an agreement for Planes to joining them at their new sporting director.
The agreement between the two parties is complete and it is now a question of time, with an agreement closed last night, with Planes set to join before the weekend.
The deal means the club have now finalised a replacement for Antonio Cordón, who they say will ‘most likely go’ to Aston Villa sooner rather than later.
He’s been linked with a move to Unai Emery’s side for several months, with it claimed five days ago that they were ‘close’ to getting a deal done.
That also stated an announcement was expected in the coming days, which Mundo now seems to believe is imminent after the deal for Cordón was finalised by Betis.
That will seemingly leave Aston Villa free to secure Cordón’s signature and continue their revival ahead of what is likely to be a busy summer transfer window.
