In summer 2020 it was reported in Brazil that Leeds United had offered €15m plus €2m in bonus payments to try and sign Arthur Cabral.

FC Basel rejected that approach, with the Swiss side wanting €20m.

On November 19th, Leeds United were once again in the story, with it explained Marcelo Bielsa’s side are one of the clubs in the picture to sign Cabral in January. Barcelona were also linked, making the competition look tough.

Leeds again got a mention at the end of last week, with the Whites pushed forward, this time in Spain, as competition for Barcelona.

Monday’s edition of Catalan newspaper Sport again covers interest from the Camp Nou, in a player who is putting together ‘spectacular’ figures this season. However, he seems to be dropping down the list of targets, with Manchester City’s Ferran Torres now getting much more attention.

After Torres, Manchester United’s Anthony Martial is being edged in as an alternative.

That would be good news for Leeds United interest, leaving them an opportunity to sign the Brazilian for €20m in January, a figure Barca could struggle to find in the winter market.

Cabral has scored 25 times already this season, and added eight assists. Of those goals, 14 have come in the league, two more than Bielsa’s side have managed in total.

Clearly, the Swiss league isn’t the Premier League, but the 23-year-old is surely a good option for Leeds in January.

The progress Raphinha has made, and his subsequent success with the Brazil national team, would be another draw for the striker.
