Aston Villa are eyeing a move for Porto striker Samu Omorodion as they seek out a replacement for Jhon Duran.

That’s according to AS, who report that the striker is back on Aston Villa’s list after being linked with a move in the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa need to find a replacement for Duran after selling him to Al-Nassr in January, with Ollie Watkins the only out and out striker in the current squad.

AS say they have turned their attention back to Omorodion and are ‘going straight’ to sign the Spanish striker from Porto.

According to their information, Samu’s future could be far from the Portuguese club, and he is being followed by the Premier League, but ‘specifically Aston Villa’.

They’re very interested in the 20-year-old, who they see as a player with similar characteristics to Duran and therefore an ideal man to replace him.

Porto would not look unfavourably on a deal after signing him for €15m last summer. He’s now valued around the €50m mark despite not yet scoring in 2025.

The move is seen as beneficial for all parties, at least according to AS. They say Omorodion would ‘take a leap forward’ and join a Champions League team with a great project under Unai Emery, Villa would be reinforced up front and Porto would get a ‘great return’ on player they bought cheap.

Of course, the transfer window and transfers are a little more complicated than that, but it appears the idea is there and Omorodion is a name to keep an eye out for moving forwards.
