Once Leeds United striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga has hailed his time at the club as special, and one that left its mark on him.
The 31-year-old has been speaking to RBB in his homeland, relayed by Hamburger Abendblatt, about his career so far and the various places it has taken them.
One of his clubs were Leeds, who he spent a season with back in 2017, arriving on loan for a season from Hamburger SV.
He made 33 appearances for the Whites that year, establishing himself as a first-team regular and bagging 10 goals and four assists in total.
That was not enough to convince Leeds to turn his move into a permanent one, with Lasogga returning to Hamburger at the end of the season before going on to enjoy spells with Al-Arabi and Al-Khor.
He currently finds himself a free agent after leaving the latter last summer but admits he looks back on that year with Leeds fondly.
“It was a very, very special time,” he said.
“With the two relegation matches, the many relegation duels. There were only ups and downs, never midfield skirmishes where you could have taken a breath.
“It was always full throttle or no throttle. That leaves its mark.”
