Crystal Palace forward Alexander Sorloth has spoken to the Norwegian press about playing under Roy Hodgson and his loan spell with Gent.

The 23 year old joined the Belgian side on loan until end of the season after failing to get games at Crystal Palace.

Speaking to Dagbladet, Sorloth was asked if he thought Hodgson had confidence in him after the Norway international explained he has trust from his current manager at Gent: “No, what do you think? It speaks for itself. I started almost no matches. Then it goes that way, but I have confidence in Roy as the manager, even though I wanted more playing time.”

Sorloth signed for Crystal Palace during the 2018 winter transfer window but he played just 16 Premier League games for the Eagles before his loan move to the Jupiler League.

His future at Selhurst Park looks uncertain and this week there were claims in the Belgian media that Gent want to keep the youngster beyond this campaign.

However, if the English side were to sell Sorloth they would be looking to recoup the €10m they paid Danish side Midtjylland for his services.

Sorloth is contracted to the London side until June 2022.
