Madrid based newspaper Marca have covered Cesc Fabregas to Real Madrid rumours, which have been pushed over the past 24 hours by both the Catalan and English media.
Fabregas was left out of Antonio Conte’s starting line-up, and whilst that wasn’t a shock, with rumours circulating for a few days before the West Ham match, it’s inevitably led to transfer claims.
The Real Madrid link is of course an interesting one, given that Fabregas is a Catalan boy who fought so hard to return to Barcelona. His time there went very sour indeed, and there’s been something of a bad feeling lingering since.
Therefore, the idea of a Real Madrid transfer fits, if only for the dramatic aspect it would all bring. The idea of Fabregas scoring against Barcelona and celebrating wildly is one which the Madrid press, and perhaps Real Madrid’s president and fans, would absolutely love.
Marca cover the situation and don’t rule out the prospect. Sometimes when claims like this appear, Marca will say it’s nonsense, or has no basis. This time they’re quite happy to let the idea roll for a bit, the prospect of Fabregas’ agents contacting Real Madrid is too entertaining to rule out.
