Ahead of the match between Real Betis and Nottingham Forest there was a lot of respect sent to Forest from the Seville media. The club’s history was taken with great respect, as was their resurgence to prominence in recent years.

Even the travelling fans were largely praised, even if some grumpy locals found things to complain about ahead of the match.

As for the game itself, Cedric Bakambu got the opener for Real Betis before Igor Jesus took control and scored twice. Perhaps inevitably given it was against a Premier League club, Antony had his big moment and scored a later equaliser.

Spanish newspaper El Pais cover the match and whilst handing out praise for some of Nottingham Forest’s play they believe Angie Postecoglou’s side ‘collapsed’ as the game went on and it shows why he’s struggled so far.

El Pais say that after Betis’ opener, Nottingham Forest ‘hammered them hard’, however: ‘…after an excellent first half, they collapsed to show why they are struggling in the Premier League, where they sit in 15th place. Postecoglou, their manager, is still without a win after four games in charge of England.’

ABC Sevilla describe Nottingham Forest as ‘fast and flashy’ in the first half.

In player ratings across the Spanish sport media, Elliot Anderson came out as the best performer.
