Jude Bellingham? Erling Haaland? No, for Guillermo Bueno it’s current Aston Villa loanee Jadon Sancho.
Yep, when asked which player amazed him most, that’s who the 23-year-old picked in an interview with AS. In fairness, he was discussing fellow youth players at Borussia Dortmund.
Bueno is currently playing for Real Valladolid. He’d joined the Spanish side for €200,000 in the summer from Borussia Dortmund.
He had been there since 2021, joining from Deportivo La Coruna’s ‘Fabril’ side in an undisclosed deal.
Bueno never made a single appearance for their first team but was a regular for Dortmund II, making 65 appearances for them in total. He also spent time on loan out at SV Darmstadt 98.
While he never made it to the first team, that doesn’t mean he didn’t rub shoulders with their first-team stars. Dortmund have had some big names through their doors, with the likes of Erlin Haaland, Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho among the biggest in recent years.
And it is the latter, currently on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United, who Bueno picked as the one who amazed him the most.
He was also very much a product of Dortmund’s youth system, joining them as a youngster from Manchester City before rising up the ranks and starring over two spells. That saw him coincide with Bueno, who was left with a very positive impression.
“I didn’t spend much time with Bellingham those years because I was mostly with the reserve team, just in some training sessions when they brought us up,” he said.
“I was really surprised by Jadon Sancho, who’s now at Aston Villa; he’s very skillful, a game-changer.”
