Udinese forward Gerard Deulofeu is ‘one of the candidates’ to replace Jarrod Bowen at West Ham United this summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the Spaniard is ‘back on the market’ and West Ham are eyeing him for their ‘ambitious project’.
The newspaper explains that Deulofeu left a ‘good memory’ in England after spells with Everton and Watford, and one of those who hasn’t forgotten him is West Ham boss David Moyes.
He has him on his list of possibilities for the summer, particularly if they are forced to find a replacement for Bowen.
Deulofeu would be more than happy to make the move as he ‘could not say goodbye’ to the Premier League when Watford sent him to Udinese.
He’s rediscovered his happiness in Serie A, and the hard work he’s put in to return from a knee injury has seen him show his ‘best version’ this season.
That’s not gone unnoticed, and West Ham now have him on their list of potential targets this summer as a result.
They are seen as a ‘good port’ for the player to ‘moor the boat’ in as they have proven to be a good alternative to the big clubs for players.
Again, it’s made clear that West Ham would only move for Deulofeu if they were to lose Bowen, but that is a possibility after his impressive performances this season.
Mundo say Deulofeu ‘has to take advantage’ of the opportunity should it come his way, as it is not too late to show he can be the player many thought he would be. It’s all dependent on Bowen’s future, though.
