Spanish manager Julen Lopetegui ‘lets himself be loved’ as he looks for his next job following his departure from Wolves in the summer.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who cover the manager today and how he has accumulated suitors since his surprise departure from Wolves in the summer.
The Spanish boss departed Wolves on the eve of the new season following an apparent disagreement with the club’s hierarchy over their transfer strategy and aims moving forwards.
His departure brought an end to a short but successful spell in charge of Wolves, who he took over in November 2022 with the club mired in relegation trouble.
He went on to win ten, draw four and lose 11 of his 25 games in charge, earning him a comfortable 40%-win percentage and ensuring Wolves finished 13th last season despite being bottom of the table on Christmas Day.
Lopetegui, meanwhile, has remained out of work but Estadio say he ‘lets himself be loved’ by a number of clubs around the world.
According to them Lopetegui remains living in England ‘waiting for an important call’, preferring to stay in the Premier League than move elsewhere.
He would like a ‘solid and reliable project’ to work on and won’t jump into any club ‘without first being sure’ of the plan in place.
His desire to stay in England has seen him rejects offers from Saudi Arabia. He ‘lets himself be loved’ but ‘rejects all the exotic proposals’ that have been presented to him.
Whether a job in England comes Lopetegui’s way anytime soon, with no clubs yet to part ways with their managers, remains to be seen, but it seems his time at Wolves left him with a taste for more, so much so he’s rejecting other offers in the hope of continuing in the Premier League.
