On Tuesday Marca reported Mateo Kovacic to Chelsea was happening.
The Croatian international would be moving on the basis of a loan without a buying clause and it was stated an announcement could be imminent.
AS carry the Chelsea claims on Wednesday and explain that Kovacic isn’t entirely happy with the deal because he wants the option to leave Real Madrid permanently, and the Spanish club are refusing to put that option in.
Whilst the weight of Spanish reporting goes with Chelsea, major national newspaper ABC have brought Tottenham and Inter Milan into the picture.
There’s said to be six clubs interested in taking the midfielder, and ‘the best options being studied’ are Chelsea, Tottenham and Inter.
ABC claim Kovacic has been told he can only go if a club matches Madrid’s €80m asking price. The club will ‘never negotiate’ with Inter given the Italian side’s efforts to unsettle Luka Modric this summer.
Tottenham have been linked previously but ABC present this as if it were fresh. Maybe it’s time for Tottenham to take advantage of that ‘special relationship’.
