Sheffield United are one of the best placed sides to sign Loren from Real Betis, reports local source Informa Betis.
The newly promoted Premier League club are in the race along with Espanyol, Granada and Osasuna. The second two Spanish clubs will also play in the top tier next season after promotion winning campaigns, with Espanyol more established in La Liga.
Betis, however, have a problem. They have Loren on the ‘exit ramp’, but of all the players the Seville club want to sell, he’s being the most reluctant.
The 24 year old striker signed a renewal less than a year ago, and that contract takes him through to June 2022. Last season he made 45 appearances, scoring eight goals and adding four assists.
Borja Iglesias is thought to be close to a move from Espanyol to Betis, and even if that deal collapses it’s through the verdiblancos will look elsewhere. Therefore, Loren wouldn’t be used so much next season.
Due to his reluctance, Betis know they have to find an offer which ‘seduces’ him. There’s no indication whether it’s thought Sheffield United could appeal to the player.
In October, Loren spoke about rejecting interest from several clubs including West Ham United.
“It is true that there were several clubs interested and that we had a firm proposal on the table (from West Ham) and so we moved it to the club,” Loren told Estadio Deportivo.
“I was clear that it had cost me a lot to arrive here, in the B team I risked staying instead of going out on loan and I was not going to throw it all away and let this slip by so quickly. So I let my agents know, my parents and my friends and everyone gave me the reason.
“Now I am finally reaping what I sowed a long time ago and I want to enjoy it to the fullest. I do not think about leaving here because in the four years that I’ve been here, I’ve enjoyed it a lot.”
