Things didn’t quite go to plan for West Brom on Wednesday, but the Baggies still managed to strengthen their squad with new players.

Bringing in Nacer Chadli, Brendan Galloway, Allan Nyom, Matt Phillips and Hal Robson-Kanu, Tony Pulis would also have loved a new central midfielder.

According to L’Equipe, one of their targets up until transfer deadline day had been Moussa Sissoko, but when that didn’t happen, the Midlands club turned to Malaga’s Ignacio Camacho.

It appeared a deal could get done, but West Brom’s offer in instalments didn’t exactly thrill the Spanish side, and everything came to an end.

On the player’s side, El Desmarque on Thursday report the Spanish midfielder never once tried to force a move away from his current club, and was happy to go with Malaga’s wishes either way.

Linked with Liverpool a few months ago, the 26-year-old appeared in training on Thursday all smiles, rather than sulking that his move didn’t go through.

We wonder if Tony Pulis is all smiles today, too. Somehow, we doubt it.
