Liverpool have been dragged into the Gareth Bale circus by Sport.
The Spanish newspaper have named Jurgen Klopp’s side as one of a number of Premier League clubs keen on the Welshman.
It’s claimed both Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Tottenham are joining Liverpool in their interest, and the addition of the latter is a development.
All the others have been linked previously, but Liverpool is a new addition to the ever growing transfer rumour.
Real Madrid are said to want the €100m back they paid for Bale, which is optimistic to say the least. Madrid would also look to save on Bale’s €17m a season wages, a figure which Sport report is after tax.
The newspaper point out that Bale’s value according to Transfermarkt is €75m.
Liverpool going anywhere near those figures has to be considered unlikely, and Bale doesn’t even appear to be the type of player Klopp really needs.
Such a signing would of course be big commercially, but the likelihood is that Sport have just thrown Liverpool into the mix to add even more drama to the situation.
Sport explain Real Madrid getting €100m for Bale would start the club off on their mission to raise money to sign Neymar.
