Last Thursday, West Ham United announced the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as their new manager.

The Hammers finished ninth in the table and decided to part ways with David Moyes, who helped them win the UEFA Conference League last season.

Marca have a report on what West Ham’s project will look like under the former Sevilla manager.

West Ham chairman David Sullivan and technical director Tim Steidten have decided to bet on Lopetegui to help them take the next step, which is to get closer to the ‘top 6’, like Aston Villa and Newcastle United have done in recent seasons.

It’s claimed the Spaniard isn’t planning a ‘revolution’, meaning he won’t make wholesale of changes.

The manager will make the most of the existing squad, which will see a few changes with some exits. Marca say he wants his players to ‘dream big with him’, to help West Ham move to the next level.

One part of the plan is to build a strong defence so the foundations are there.

That doesn’t mean the Premier League side won’t make attacking signings, considering they need a No.9. The Spanish newspaper insists there will be new additions at West Ham in the summer window, in line with the project.

Marca make no mention of the specific players Lopetegui is looking to sign for West Ham, but they’ve been encouraged to believe the budget will be relatively big.
