Unable to get minutes at Paris Saint-Germain, Gonçalo Guedes ended up spending last season on loan at Valencia, where he performed enough to get called up to Portugal’s squad for the World Cup in Russia.
Following that tournament and the end of his temporary spell in Spain, the Portuguese winger has now returned to his former side, and is currently training with the Ligue 1 champions, at least for the time being.
That’s because Valencia are keen to make the deal permanent, but the reason that isn’t done yet is down to better offers arriving from elsewhere, notably from Arsenal in the Premier League.
This information comes from Superdeporte, who published an article late on Wednesday stating that should Guedes leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, then he’d only do so to go to Valencia.
This came just after a Periscope from one of their journalists, Hector Gomez, where he stated Paris Saint-Germain had received offers that were superior to Valencia’s, all rejected by the player.
Taking to his Twitter, Gomez also teased his followers by tweeting “Emery, Emery…. Say cheese”, to which someone asked if Arsenal wanted Guedes.
His answer? A simple “Yes”.
This latest bit of information has yet to be published in an article, and wasn’t in today’s paper edition of Superdeporte.
Maybe they’re saving it for a later date?
