As far as Spanish media outlets go, El Confidencial have proved over the years to be more reliable than most. Their stories are often in-depth and the same can be said about an article today on Everton and Lucas Perez.
So far this summer the Deportivo La Coruna striker has been linked with Middlesbrough, West Ham United and Leicester City, that’s not to forget Spanish champions Barcelona.
On the Leicester front, the player’s agent Rodrigo Fernandez said in May: “Leicester from the Premier, Napoli from Calcio and Atletico Madrid from La Liga have directly addressed us to see the possibility of signing Lucas. To all of them we told them that we will never activate the release clause, they must negotiate with Deportivo.
“And they have said, some now and others a few months ago, that they intend to do so. In addition, there’s a fourth team, well, there are more, but between the main teams, there is a fourth, which the Barcelona, we know they like Lucas.”
Checking out reports from the British media, El Confidencial say they’ve found out Everton’s operation to buy Lucas Perez is ‘underway and serious’.
It’s stated the ‘truth is’ that Everton activated the process to try and sign Lucas Perez a few days ago. Steve Walsh is said to be guiding this possible move, which would fit in with the earlier Leicester City interest.
El Confidencial say Everton would be prepared to pay the player’s €20m buyout, but if the agent sticks to his word from May, then it’s clear Lucas Perez himself wouldn’t want a move forced, but rather a transfer conducted with the blessing of Deportivo La Coruna.
Such a stance from Lucas Perez seems commendable, he only joined the club in 2014 but the 27 year old is originally from La Coruna.
