West Bromwich Albion and Southampton have both made a bid for Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini, according to local newspaper Il Mattino.

On Monday, Manolo Gabbiadini’s agent revealed the player was definitely on his way out from the Serie A club, with the Premier League or the Bundesliga as a potential destination.

Both Stoke and Leicester City were labeled to be favourites for his signature, at least according to Corriere dello Sport, but Il Mattino on Tuesday have a completely different pair of Premier League clubs.

Claude Puel and Tony Pulis, who have also been linked with a move for the striker, are reported to have ordered €15m bids to be made for Gabbiadini, both received by Napoli, but that just isn’t enough to bring him to St Mary’s and the Hawthorns respectively.

Il Mattino make it clear once again the Italian club are looking for a fee upwards of €20m, preferably around €22m.

However, they also explain that Napoli, who want to get rid of the striker this month, could be prepared to accept a bid of €18m + some generous bonuses.

It’s getting closer, for Southampton and West Brom, at least, but it’s still not quite enough.
