Lille star Sofiane Boufal is attracting a lot of interest this summer, with the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Paris-Saint Germain already linked to him.
His agent, recently admitted that he has held discussions with Barcelona over a possible move, but that hasn’t stopped another Premier League entering the race to sign him.
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Southampton are interested in signing Boufal, and have already contacted Lille.
L’Equipe reckon the Premier League side haven’t made a bid yet, but explain that Boufal could cost as much as €25m-€30m.
Southampton star Sadio Mane has been linked with a big money move to Liverpool, and there is a chance they could reinvest that money on Boufal, who is highly rated in France.
A move to Southampton could be tempting for Boufal, if any of the other mentioned clubs don’t make a serious move for him.
The 22-year-old had 12 goals and 4 assists to his name last season, and has another three years left on his contract at Lille.
Boufal is a player Tottenham Hotspur have been watching for a while, something the player’s agent confirmed to Sport Witness, and it’s interesting that Southampton again share a France based target with Spurs.
Southampton’s France scout followed Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham, with the Saints then getting a new man in. Since Pochettino moved, the two clubs have shared an intriguing number of targets in France’s Ligue 1.
