FC Metz’s Lamine Camara has emerged as a transfer target for Southampton this summer, according to a report from France.
Last season, he made 33 appearances in all competitions, operating mainly in the middle of the pitch and at times as a defensive and an attacking midfielder.
Metz have been relegated from the Ligue 1 and Southampton could take advantage of this to sign the 20-year-old this summer.
According to Le10 Sport, the English club have tabled the first offer to sign the Senegal international.
Le10 aren’t aware of the details of the Saints proposal, but they do state it has made the French club’s officials think.
Camara has two years left on his deal and the report claims he’s valued at €10m. It’s claimed he’s likely to leave Metz for a fee much higher than that current valuation.
That may be wishful thinking, especially considering their relegation.
Stade Rennais have also shown keen interest in the midfielder, but they haven’t taken any action to secure his services so far. This would certainly please Southampton in the race to sign the player.
Last month, Jeunes Footeux stated Everton and Fulham have shown interest in Camara, but there was no mention of clubs other than Southampton and Stade Rennais in Le10’s report.
