Trabzonspor President Ertugrul Doğan has released a statement in which he’s said it’s looking unlikely they will be re-signing Southampton forward Paul Onuachu this summer.

The Nigeria international spent last season on loan with the Super Lig side and in recent weeks he’s been linked with a return.

Kuzey Ekspres have covered comments made by the Trabzonspor chief and he’s said Southampton are still making it difficult for them to sign Onuachu. Doğan revealed the Premier League side still want the them to meet their valuation of the player, as was the case during the last summer transfer window.

“Onuachu is a player who played in our team before. Southampton still insist on the same figures, we don’t have that agenda,” said the Trabzonspor president.

Following Southampton’s relegation back to the Championship it’s expected Onuachu will leave St Mary’s this summer.

Trabzonspor have again be linked with the centre forward, along with Super Lig rivals Besiktas. Ole Gunnar Solskjær is keen to bolster his attacking options ahead of next season and with the expected departure of Ciro Immobile it’s likely they’ll need to bring in a new No.9.

During his loan spell with Trabzonspor last season he scored an impressive 17 goals in 25 games.

Onuachu has made 27 appearances for Southampton this season, scoring four goals. He’s contracted to the English club until June 2026.
