Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk has been labelled one of the best defenders in the Premier League by the Dutch media. The 25-year-old was a key player last night for the Netherlands’s during his side’s 1-1 draw with Belgium.
Voetbal Premeiur have rated the Netherlands players after their clash with Belgium, and the Southampton star was given a rating of 7.5 out 10, which was the highest among his teammates.
The Dutch football outlet said Van Dijk deserves to take a lot of credit for his performance in Amsterdam last night, and that he demonstrated he’s one of the best central defenders playing in England.
“Van Dijk also deserves a big compliment for his performance. Showed why he is now one of the best central defenders in the Premier League,” said Voetbal Primeur.
Van Dijk has become one of the Netherlands key players and a leader since making his debut last year. The former Celtic star has also been one of Southampton’s standout players so far this season.
Looking assured and confident, Van Dijk helps adds some confidence to Danny Blind’s defence.
