Southampton could be set to benefit if Everton decide to buy Charly Alcaraz on a permanent basis this summer, with the money from the sale coming straight to them.

That’s according to journalist Fabrício Lopes from the from the Resenha Rubro-Negra channel on YouTube, who reports that Flamengo won’t make anything from the sale.

Alcaraz is currently on loan from Flamengo at Everton, but the deal includes a clause for Everton to make it permanent once he’s played a certain number of minutes in games.

All indications are that Everton intend to buy the Argentine midfielder, who has impressed since his arrival and is seen by some as the long-term replacement for Abdoulaye Doucoure, who looks set to depart on a free transfer this summer.

The clause is currently set at £15m and that has seemingly led some Flamengo fans to question how much money the Brazilian side will make from such a deal given the 22-year-old joined from Southampton in an €18m deal last summer.

It appears the answer is nothing, with Lopes now reporting that Flamengo will immediately pay off their debt to Southampton with the transfer fee they receive from Everton.

“Flamengo won’t get a single cent from this,” he said.

“Flamengo passed on the money. The sale, and Flamengo still hasn’t paid for Carlos Alcaraz, okay? Flamengo passed it on to Charly’s old team. So, this money, if it ends up in Flamengo’s account, it’ll happen quickly.

“It’s going straight there. This isn’t money that Flamengo is going to use for absolutely nothing. It’s to pay off a debt that we had, that we incurred last year. First situation.

“So, it doesn’t matter if Flamengo is going to, yeah, if it was paid in 10x, 5x instalments, if it’s all in cash. It’s all going there.”
