Southampton’s chances of signing Dennis Praet appear to be slipping away. The talented young Belgium is wanted by several clubs, but agreeing a fee with Anderlecht has always been an issue.
ABC Sevilla have picked up claims from Italy, and say Sevilla have now reached an agreement with Anderlecht for the transfer of the player. The decision is now up to Praet himself, and he’s likely to be positive about the potential transfer.
When asked at the end of June about interest from Sevilla, Sampdoria and Southampton, Praet said: “Those are three great clubs. I have always said that the Spanish league suits my playing style the most, but Serie A and the Premier League are top leagues.
“It remains to be seen, and if Anderlecht don’t reach an agreement, then I’ll gladly stay another year. I feel that there is a fresh wind blowing through the club and I’m still very happy.”
Praet is a much more attacking player than Pierre-Emile Højbjerg so it’s not been a case of one or the other. Southampton have been linked with Praet for some time, sending scouts to keep an eye on the player’s progress.
